Seeking God’s Restoration of the city

Vision

St Luke’s is a parish church at the heart of the city of Newcastle upon Tyne. Our vision is to see God’s restoration of the city through the revelation of the truth, the formation of disciples, and the demonstration of God’s love to every person in Newcastle.

We’re a work in progress, seeking to be a community that is shaped by the way of Jesus, led by the power of the Holy Spirit, following God’s story as we find it in the Bible. Like all Christians, we’re called to answer Jesus’ great commission: leading all kinds of people into a new, restored life with Jesus, baptising them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, and walking alongside them as we learn to live the way God intended (Matthew 28:19-20).

Meet the team

St Luke’s is run with a model of Leadership and Governance. The Church Leader is Adam Smith, who works alongside a leadership team. Governance is given by the Parochial Church Council – the PCC – made up of elected members of the St Luke’s church family.

Our Network

St Luke’s has long been a place that draws together people from many different churches and traditions - first and foremost we’re part of the whole worldwide Church. We’re also part of the Church of England, which in our region is represented by the Diocese of Newcastle.

As part of a church revitalisation project (grafting a team from St Thomas' in to the St Luke's church family), we have a close relationship with and work alongside St Thomas’ Newcastle who are part of the New Wine Network and are the Diocesan Resource Church for the Diocese of Newcastle.
